The Mining Expo

A couple of weeks ago The Mining Expo was in town! We all enjoy going especially the boys. They love because they can climb on all of the equipment and get lots of free stuff!Koda is pretty sure that changing this tire would be hard work for one person!
Koda said he could probably be able to fix this machine!
The boys are sitting in an underground machine.
(sorry I don't know the name of it)
Bry driving the bus. He thought he was pretty cool!
Koda was content being a passenger
The boys loved climbing on this LARGE dump truck!
Standing in the bucket!
Talk about BIG tires!
Bry thinks that this machine would be fun to have around the house!
(yea right where would I put that)
Koda said he would be able to make a lot of money if he had one of these!
This rocket was there and Bry thought it was pretty cool!
I am not sure what this machine was but both of the boys could pretend to drive it at the same time!
All in all The Mining Expo was a great one!

one of our most favorite things to do . . . . .

since it was a nice day the other day we decided to take advantage of it and load up the 4-wheelers and go for a ride. a few of our friends told us about some trails that are close to the house so we decided to try them out. it was a fun day and i think that we will be back soon to try out some of the other trails. favoritei thought that this picture was funny.
bry driving down a really steep hill looking to see who is behind him.
koda loves to play on the hills on his wheeler.
after we rode for a while we decided to take a break and have some lunch. then off for more fun.
shawn enjoying the day riding his 4-wheeler
this is kimney trying out some of the fun trails
these next pictures were of bry wanting to see if his 4-wheeler would make it down the hill and across the water to the other side. he is not afraid of much.
and of course he made it.
we can't wait for the next nice day so we can go again!

Congratulations Kimberly!!

Shawn's niece Kimberly graduated from Roy High School at the end of May and we had the opportunity to go and see her graduate. All of her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents were there to see her graduate. Wow she has a big family, all of us took up 3 rows of seats. All in all the ceremony went good, and then we were all on our way to a park close to Peggy's house to celebrate.
All of us gathered at the park for some good eats, and fun. Now that she is done with High School she is moving to our house to go to college here. We wish her the best of luck!!

CoUrThOuSe ToUr

the last couple of weeks of school the 3rd graders (Kode and all of his class mates) learned about voting, holding an office, and other things like what the county court house does. the children had the opportunity to run for a position (like the mayor, the sheriff's deputy, etc. .) Kode decided he did not want to run for office, he just wanted to own his own business. After the unit was just about over with they took the children on a field trip to the County Court House. (they asked me if i wanted to go so i did) the field trip was very interesting and i am glad i had the opportunity to go.
when we first got to the court house the teacher quized the kids about some of the things they had learned in the class about the court house while we were waiting for our tour guide.
we had the opportunity to go through the recorders office where they showed us some of their really old books that were hand written in from 1910.
we stopped to take a look at a really cool map they had. i just love Kode's cheesy smile
our next stop was the jury room. that was pretty cool. the kids thought they were pretty cool pretending like they were the jury people
this is judge Memeo. he came into the jury room and answered the kids questions.
then we were on our way into his court room. he talked a little about the kinds of things that go on in his court room and then the kids had an opportunity to act out a case that they created. it was called "who kissed the green frog?"
each student had a part in the case and Kode was part of the jury. it was so neat that the judge let the students take over his court room.
after our tour was over everyone gathered on the stairs for one last group picture.

tons of snow

A few weekends ago Shawn's dad and step-mom came to visit for a few days. We thought it would be fun to take a picnic up to Lamoille Canyon to see all of the waterfalls. Much to our surprise there were no waterfalls but LOTS of snow. (I guess we should of figured there was going to be lots of snow since we have not had much warm weather to where the snow could melt) Anyway we still had a good time.
Shawn and Koda having a snowball fight!
This is supposed to be a two lane highway but since there is so much snow there is only enough room for one lane.
Bry just loved it that he could walk on the top of the snow without falling in.
in some areas the snow was taller than our truck. we just could not believe how much snow there was.
After playing in the snow for a while we decided to find a picnic table and have some lunch. The sun had came out and it was a very pleasant picnic.

a little talk

So the other day as we were eating breakfast I decided to have a little talk with my boys about the surgery that I am going to have in a few weeks and a few of the changes that will happen while I am recovering. The conversation went like this.
me: well guys after we get off our vacation we are going to be home for a few days and then we are all going to Salt Lake so that I can have a surgery on my stomach. While I am recovering. . .(Bry interrupts me)
Bry: what are you going to be recovering from?
me: the surgery on my stomach!
Bry: why, what is happening with your stomach all of the sudden?
me: well . . . (I could not even put a thought in process before he said)
Bry: are you having another baby?
me: a NO I am not having any more kids, as a matter of fact the doctor is going to do a surgery that will prevent me from having any more kids.
Bry: ooh thank goodness cause I don't think we could get along with another kid around here especially a GIRL!
me: its a good thing I am all done having kids cause you guys are no support!! ha ha
Koda: I am excited to hang in Salt Lake with our family we don't see very often. It will be nice to get out of town for a while.
me: so are you guys OK with this?
Koda: yea everything is fine with me
Bry: well I want to know more on your surgery!
me: ooh goodness Bry (this kid is going to give us a run for our money)
Anyway all in all the talk went well and I feel that they feel that they are involved in the process that we all will be going through. Thanks to all the family in advance that will be helping us out while I am down. I appreciate all that you do for us. I couldn't do it with out you!!

Way to go Bry!!

It just amazes me that two children that are only 2 years apart in age and that come from the same parents are so different. Well I am talking about my two boys. I had no problems potty training Koda at night, but Bry has been a real challenge. I have tried just about everything. I would get him up 2 times a night, I had him checked out by a doctor, him and I made up a calender with fun stickers to mark the good nights, also him and I would make deals if he did not have any accidents at night but nothing seemed to work.
So a few weeks ago Bry said he wanted to make a deal with me. (here we go another one of these I thought to myself) He said if he did not have any accidents in his bed for 6 days I could take him to the dollar store and he could pick out 6 items of his choice, but that meant that he could not have any accidents. So we shook on it! Much to my surprise he did it. So from that point on him and I have been making a deal if he goes 7 days without having any accidents he gets to choose something fun for the hole family to do on Friday. (Friday works best cause Shawn is off that day)

So we have been doing this for a few weeks now and last Friday he choose to go bowling. We all had a great time. (well Koda had a little bit of an attitude. He wanted to order drinks and snacks while we bowled, but Shawn and I decided that after we were done bowling we would all go next door and try out the new pizza place. He was not so happy with us, but he got over it) Anyway, we had a lots of fun and the food was good.

Way to go Bry on not having any accidents for several weeks now. We are so proud of you! I can't wait to see what you pick for us to do next week!
