the outdoor chairs are finished. . .

OK so I have had a few people ask about what my out door paito chars look like. Or how did they turn out? So here are some pictures of how the chairs turned out.

Before. . . . . . .
they were terrible. they were to the point that no one could sit on them cause they were tearing due to the sun beating down on them throughout the summer days

After. . . . .
So I choose some bright colorful fabric.
I have never made anything like this before. In fact I really don't even know how to sew but I figured it couldn't be very hard. So I took one of the old torn pieces and just looked at it and then went to town to make some new ones. Once I made the first one the other 5 were easy!

And this is what it all looks like on the deck. I am pretty happy on how it all turned out! Now I just need to figure out what I am going to do with the unbrella. Its got some issues!
Now we can go out and enjoy all of our hard work!

Can't believe its over!!

Wow its hard to believe its over!! The school year has come to and end already. Today was our last day with all the kiddos we have been teaching for the past 9 months. It was sad to see them "graduate" but fun to see how far they have grown throughout the year.
These two awesome ladies (Amber and Jen) are who I have had the opportunity to teach with, learn from and hang out with over the school year. Its been a great year and I have learned a lot from these gals. I am sad that our year is over. Things are going to change drastically next year and most of the people that I have worked with currently and in the past are not returning. So I am very nervous on how things are going to turn out for next year. I guess time will tell.

So Jen and Amber thanks to a great year!! I wish you both the very best in what ever you do.

the waterfall

I just wanted to post some pictures of Mac's awesome rock work and his rock waterfall! He has done an AWESOME job on all the rock work in our back yard. Its not finished yet but each day off he gets a little more done! So here's a little peek!

so this is a view from our deck. (yea its hard to see  much)
I guess it shows all of the rock work that he has laid!

This is a picture of his waterfall. Its so cool sounding.
Throughout the pond area Mac has statues placed in various areas.
This fish statue is pretty cool. He placed it in the center of the pond area. It is solar powered and the ball lights up at night.
These cat tales are solar powered and they are pretty during the day but they are even cooler at night when they are all lit up!

the bench that we redid is just off to the right of the pond. Its so relaxing to go sit on our newly panted bench and listen to the water and admire Mac's hard work.

Mac set these stepping stones below the bench.

its a fun little accent to the area

this is just another statue that is on the hill.

Mac took some of the larger rocks and made some steps so that we could get to the top of the hill. The picture does not do them justice.

Well that's it for now. More to come soon. We still have lots of work to do to finish up the hill.

Happy Memorial Day!!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!!

Thank you to those who have fought for us and for our freedom and then gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. I hate war and all that our soldiers have been through, but I am sure thankful for our freedom. Thank You Thank You to all of those who have served our country!! We appreciate you!

We hope that everyone is having a good Memorial Day!!
Our day is a lazy one. Bry is sick and down with the stomach flu. So we are all just laying low and hanging out!
We may still do some BBQing after Mac gets home from work. What is memorial day without some good eats that are cooked from the grill!

our deck

This is a project we have been working on for a while now. Our back deck really needed to be painted and finally we were able to do just that!
It took a lot of sanding (to get all of the old paint off ) and then prep it for the new stuff. That was a job in it self. It was a lot of hard work. But it will look so nice when its done (well that's what I had to keep telling myself when I was sanding it)

Kode and I painting all the railings

and here's the finished product . . . . .

After a few coats of paint and lots of drying time we were finally able to get all of our outdoor furniture out and enjoy it!!

Woo hoo we are so glad to have that project checked off of our to do list!! That has been one job that we have needed to do for a few summers now and I am so glad to not have to think about it any more!!

Finally Fixed

So the boys' fort has needed to be fixed for a little while now and finally Mac was able to get it done. Its a darn good thing cause when he went to unbolt one of the screws the whole thing just fell apart right in his hand.

So now the boys and all their friends can come and swing and play on it all they want cause we have finally fixed it!!

Choir Concert

The other day Kode's 4th grade class had a little choir concert/class play. Kode is not much for being up on stage or singing but this is something that they have been practicing most of the year for and he did well.

All in all it was a good concert and the play was cute.
So that's it for the 4th grade music class. This was their last concert at this school and with this music teacher. Its crazy to think that he will be attending an intermediate school next year (I always new it as middle school, but for some reason they call it intermediate school here)

the bench

This bench was given to us a few years ago.
Well last year we were going to just throw it away and for what ever reason it never made it there. So when we were making plans on how we were going to redo our back yard we decided to repaint it and utilize it. (well first we were going to throw it away again and then when we started looking into how much a new one costs we decided that a little paint and some elbow grease on our old one would be better and it would be just like getting a brand new one) The bench is in such bad shape that no one would dare sit on it cause you would probably fall right on the ground.

So we did just that!
So I spray painted the metal part of the bench green (the boys asked me why I choose green and I told them that I wanted to bench to stand out a little from the rock and I figured green would do just that. They don't care for the color that I choose) Anyway, Mac cut me some new wooden pieces I stained them all and then he put it back together for me.

And here is how it turned out!
Just like new!!

Sweet another thing checked off of my to do list!!

my mother's day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day!! The boys each made me a card and they bought me a mirror for my bedroom.

Kode made me some paper flowers and on each of the sticks there was a
Thanks guys for making my mother's day a great one!! I love you guys!!

A Little Get Away!!!

So the other day we decided to make a trip to Layton to take some furniture up to some of Mac's family members. It was nice to get out of town and see some family.

Well getting out of town was very difficult! Just about a mile or so out of town our brakes on our trailer started smoking. So we pulled off to the side of the road so that Mac could get under the trailer and see if he could fix the brakes. This is when we found out that we had no tools in the truck to do the job. Well needless to say Mac had a few choice words to say about that! While we were stopped 3 highway patroll officers stopped to see what we were doing. At first that scared Kode but he soon realized that all they were doing is making sure we were OK. So we ended up stopping 2 more times to make sure our brakes were working properly. Anyway, it was a long drive but we finally made it to our location!

The next day we did a little shopping and then we had a picnic in the park.
Mac's uncle Dave, aunt Melanie, and Mom (and his sister and her family not pictured) all came to the park where we all had a sandwich and enjoyed each others company. Then after we were all done eating the kids were off to play. The weather was great and there were not very many children there playing so the kids could run and play and enjoy everything at the park.

even the big kid enjoyed himself with the toys
and Bry loved the swings
Jordan's favorite thing was the monkey bars
Kode enjoyed digging in the sand
Isaac just enjoyed being able to play with all the kids
Hannah enjoying the park

Mac, Peggy and Rachel just enjoying the day relaxing and watching the kid play

After the kids played for a while we all decided to take a walk to see the ducks.
Stopping to feed the ducks
Kim joined us at the park
Bry my little monkey wanted to climb in the trees.
and of course we found some water and a very large stick that the kids had to play with. The water was stinky so we defintely did not want to swim or fall in but it was still fun to play around.

Kode tried to splash Kim with the stick so she was wrestling with him. Hes pretty tough and was able to give her a run for her money.
Bry teasing her. Poor Kim couldn't get a break!

Then that night we had a bbq where the kids played games and built a sand castle in the sand box!

All in all it was a great trip. It was so nice to deliver all the goods and visit with the family. Thanks Peggy for letting us stay at your house. We enjoyed your hospitality!
