Decorating!!

So the boys had asked a few times when we were going to get out our Halloween decorations (we usually decorate around September 15th. Well this year time is just going by so fast that September came and gone and the decorations were still in their boxes) Well it was time. So the boys got out of school early one day and we all came home and broke out the decorations. It was lots of fun decorating with them. They were so into it this year and that made it so much more fun! Anyway, this is what the house looks like now!

Kode acting like he is afraid of one of the large spiders we as our decoration!
Silly boy!

and Bry laying out the spiderweb netting throughout the house!

Then he had to put some fake rats and spiders on it!

then Kode wanted to hang the bats but he wasn't sure where so we came up with an idea. To hang them from the light in the kitchen. It turned out pretty cool!

He really wanted to do something in the walk way of the garage. I really didn't want anything on the floor (since we have animals and all putting things on the floor is not an option) So he came up with the idea of hanging some crate paper from the ceiling. It worked out great!

Then Bry thought it would be a good idea to decorate each lamp shade with a spider web and a large spider on them. A great touch. Thanks Bry!

All in all the house turned out great! We are officially ready for Halloween now!! I just love this time of year.

Walk-a-thon

So Bry's school had a walk-a-thon today and he asked me if I would come and walk with him and his friends. I really enjoy walking and this is a great opportunity to spend a little time with him at school. So I made arrangements with work and I made sure I was there to hang with him. The weather was great and everyone enjoyed themselves walking, telling jokes, skipping and teasing each other.
Here is Bry and some of his school friends!
 (Brandon, Bryce, Carter, and Bry)
A bunch of silly heads!!

This is Bry's best bud in school.

Then after the walk-a-thon the PTA provided popsicles to all of the children!

Just as the children were finishing up their popsicles, about 5 minutes before school was to get out, a police officer came walking up and said they needed to lock down the school. There was an incident going on and they needed everyone to be safe. So we had to gather in the classroom, shut off the lights and try and lay the kids low (keep them quite. if that could be done. we are talking about 3rd graders that had been walking around the school for the past 45 minutes and they knew it was time for school to be over and it was Friday and everyone was so over being locked in the school but what do you do!!) Anyway, we did what they said. Bry's teacher did an amazing job keeping the kids calm, under control, and entertained. She put a movie on her smart board and then fed them a healthy snack. Luckily we were only locked in the school for about 15 minutes. So this was the first time I had experienced a true lock down. (we practice this with our pre-school students all the time and I never want to go through that with my students ever but it was a very interesting experience I have to say) Anyway, not to sure yet what the deal was other than that there was a shooting that happened one block away from the school.

I just hate it when its down. . . . .

So my darn washing machine started making more noise then I had ever remembered the other day. I didn't think much of it. (actually it vibrates and has done this for years and I just thought it was that) Well I was wrong. I just shove the load into the washing machine put some soap in and then go on my way doing something else. And that is exactly what I did when the washer decided it had had enough. So later on that day I went to put the load from the washer into the dryer and that is when I realized there was a problem. The load was sitting in lots of water. (usually the loads are just damp when the washer is done washing so I knew something was very wrong this time.) So I asked Mac if he would take a look and see if he knew what was wrong. The water pump had bit the dust. It was officially done!

So he got onto the computer and ordered a water pump and a spring (I guess the spring was broken and that is why the washer was vibrating so bad. go figure. I guess I should have had him look at it a while ago cause its been doing that for a very long time) Anyway, so no washing machine. I really didn't realize how much I use this washing machine. I usually do a load of laundry once a day. I really hate to have dirty cloths, rags, towels, rugs, and stuff laying around that are dirty. So when the machine went down I just about cried. I just hated it!

Luckily the parts only took 5 days and $200.00 but we got them. But let me tell you those 5 days were loooooong days with out a washer.  The boys asked me to wash some of their cloths cause they wanted to wear them and then work wanted me to wash the rags and I had to remind myself I don't have a washing machine. Anyway, all was great at my house when the parts showed up!!! Yea I was so happy!

So Mac got right to work putting them in! (he just knew that it was driving me crazy that I had a pile of laundry and there was not much I could do with it)

The parts were a little bugger to get in but all in all it didn't take him long to get the washing machine up and running again. Thanks so much Mac. I am so thankful that you were able to fix it. I sure didn't want to go and purchase a new washing machine right now! Love you tons!!

Mac's Birthday!!

For Mac's birthday we went to dinner at one of our favorite family restaurants as a family. It was nice to enjoy some family time with just the 4 of us. He had a great day. He was able to speak with most of his family members and that is what he wanted most! Thanks to everyone for calling him. He appreciated it!
