Acts of kindness!!

Around this time each year my dad and step-mom send us some money and they ask us to use the money for acts of kindness! (she also sends us an e-mail with some ideas in it to help us out with doing our acts of kindness) I try not to do the same things all the time. So this year we are going to try something new! (more to come about that later)

So the other night Bry came home and asked if he could take some of the money and donate it to a lady at his school that makes blankets for children at Primary Children's Hospital. So I took $20.00 out of the "acts-of-kindness fund" and sent it to school with him. He also took $10.00 out of his money jar and donated it. (I didn't realize it until the other day that he donated some of his money to this cause) It just warms my heart to hear that my boys love to do acts of kindness for other people. This is what the season is all about!

More to come about our "acts of kindness"

basketball

We are so excited! Kodes basketball team has made it to the finals! (the league only chooses the top 8 best teams and then those teams play against each other for 1st place winner) We currently sit in 3rd place but we are hoping to take 2nd if not 1st place! This is very exciting! Kode really seems to be enjoying basketball and he has come so far since the season has started!
not a great picture of him with the ball but this is about all I could get out of him.

Kode was asked if he wanted to play on a traveling basketball team starting in January. (well in January is when they will practice and then they will travel in March, April and May) They will only practice twice a week and then travel once a month or so. This is quite an honor that he has been asked if he wants to be apart of the traveling team. At first he wasn't sure about doing that but now he is cool with it!

Festival of Trees!

The boys and I decided that we would go and see what the festival of trees was like this year! I always enjoy going to see all the trees. I love to steal other people's ideas on how they decorate their trees! This year they had even more trees on display then they have ever had! Anyone can donate a decorated tree. Then the public goes into the convention center and bids on the trees. The trees are on display for 3 days and at the end of the 3rd day the highest bidder gets the tree! The money raised is split between 4 charities. The money goes a good cause! (I have never bid on a tree before. We have 3 Christmas trees and I only put up 1 of them each Christmas. I just have a hard time justifying bidding on another one!) Anyway we always have a great time at the festival of trees!
the boys enjoyed walking around to see how much the trees were going for!

 and the stockings!

Bry thought this tree looked nice!

This was my favorite tree (or should I say trees)

Kode liked this Cashman Christmas tree!

We decorate gingerbread houses each year! So while we were at the festival they had several gingerbread houses on display. So Kode studied them so that when he decorates his house he has a good idea on what its gonna look like!

This tree was a pretty cool one! Well the ending bid on it was $3,000.00!
It was way cute but $3,000.00 worth. I am not sure I could pay that but what do I know! The money goes to a good cause so I guess if someone wants to pay that price then that's OK!
