So we have needed a new garage door opener for a long time now. (well lets say that the old one has served its purpose. its about 14 years old and has seen better days) I was trying to get in the garage the other day and the opener just did not want to work. So Mac and I made our way down to Home Depot (I swear we practically own this place since we are always down there buying stuff to remodel things in our house) Anyway, we went to the Depot to "price out garage door openers" and ended coming home with one. (isn't that how it usually goes)
So when we got home with it Mac and Kode went to town on putting it together!
Mac's second hand man!
Off went the old one and on when the new one!
Well it wasn't quite as easy as it seemed to be when we were looking at it in the store. Mac had a few choice words throughout the process! The older one was much longer than the new one. So everything had to be moved forward to accommodate the new one! Then when it came to install the sensors all of our junk in the garage was in the way (you know all that stuff you store in the corner of the garage) all had to be moved away (or should I say thrown throughout the garage with lots of choice words) Anyway, after all of the sensors were installed and the motor was bolted up in place it was time to see how it opened!
Well it didn't open just as easy as the directions said it would. So Mac had to pull out the old manual and do some reading on why it just wouldn't work.
So after a little reading a few choice words and some tapping of a few buttons it worked just fine! Then it was time to program the remotes. And I have to say that seemed like it worked the first time. (it was about time that something finally went right the first time)
This is what our old bulky, very tired been broken for years remote looked like. It looks like a dinosaur compared to our new one!
and our new remote is so small. I could just about hang it on my car keys and would fit just fine! I just can not believe how small it is!
Then it was time to install and program the wireless key pad! At first this thing didn't want to work. but with a little reading and some thinking he got it to work! Now if we forget the keys to the front door and we don't have a remote we can just punch in our code and we can get in through the garage! (now lets just hope the boys wont give the number to all the little neighbor boys for them to practice opening it)
Then it was time to get rid of this old cracked edging along the door. Its seen better days too!
Mac tearing down the old stuff! He was saying while he was doing this "demoing stuff is lots of fun" LOL
then it was time to put up the new clean, fresh trim! It makes the garage look much better!
So we finally have an opener that works! And I can not believe how quiet it is. This new opener doesn't shake the floor of our bedroom when it opens or closes any more! I wonder why we didn't do this sooner! Hhhhmmm
